Vio.lat.ion When all the lights go out, and there's no one left to save you- when death is knocking at your door, his hand clenched and thumping, By my side is where you'll find, peace of mind and salvation.
Her eyes were still shut. Her body lay mangled, torn apart. Faintly though, she still breathed. The whole scene continously playing through her mind-she had now one goal; protect her daughters Bailey and Anabel Lee. She did not know where her other children had gone; she had several litters as it were-but they were scattered, there brains unplagued by the death and misfortune that Bailey and Anabel Lee had. They had not known sorrow like this. But there was a problem with her plan, seeing as she could not even open her eyes at the moment. Her paws only twitched when she tried to put them under her. She would need time to heal before even getting up; and by then her muscles would have atrophied and her flesh begin to rot. And what kind soul would bring her food and water to sustain her? There seemed not a soul amongst this dark land where she lay across from the slain body of Gangster that would not mistake her for dead already. Were it not for her sides painfully rising and falling, she was mostly dead. Her jaw was stuck shut, so she could not call for help. The only movement she could make was twitching her paw, hoping someone wouldn't mistake it for death playing with her body...

Serafin
I take the force of the blow for you. Protection.
A strong thermal filled my draconian wings as I slid through the air. The warm air bouyed me up, keeping me riding on the columns for wind. The wind wrapped it's invisivle arms around me and tugged at my grey fur, pulling it in every direction. Then I dived, and every loose strand stuck to my body as I rolled to the dark earth.
I snapped my wings out just in time to stop myself from becoming a bloody, broken grey crater in the earth and glided back into the sky, although not very high. The ground blurred beneath me as I tilted my wings to catch the wind. Exhileration pounded through me, taking away all my troubles.
Flying was probably the best thing of my miserable existance. The feel of the wind rushing through my coat and the caress of a warm thermal as it buoyed my into the sky. It was indescribeable, but dangerous. Very dangerous. There might be no game funner than flying, but there was none more deadly because if I lost, I died.
Suddenly a cry rang clearly in my ears, or was it my head? It didn't matter. I knew what it was, and I had been ignoring several similiar ones during my flight, but this one cut through my joy and struck my heart. It was close, closer than any I had heard over the last hour, and desperate. The pleading of someone close to death. It was also a cry from my own species, or something close to my own species. A canine of some description, whether it be a wolf or a dog.
Instinct kicked in at that moment I dove in the direction of the call. My draconian wings were pressed close to my sides, allowing me to dive at the fullest speed I could, but their edges fanned out slightly, keeping me in control of the headlong rush to earth. When I felt I was close enough to almost land above the canine calling for help I flared my wings as I had a few minutes ago and stopped. The force of my dive snapped against my wings, bringing them back further than they were really suppose to go, before relenting and allowing me to land.
My paws touched the earth and I flexed my wings, checking for any breaks. Nothing seemed to be wrong, but I knew they would be sore tomorrow. I shook off worries for myself and looked at the form lying on the ground. It wasn't a wolf, but a dog. A big one, that had the same basic build as a wolf, but still not a wolf. And it was a she.
"This place reeks of death, and there seems to be nothing here for me to do. Then I find you. A poor, dying dog, all alone in this place, except for the body of what I believe to be your mate," I assessed the situation aloud, looking over everything. The female was broken, battered and almost not worth saving, but I felt that she was something to protect, unlike the other cries I had heard. She had a place in this world that couldn't be upset just yet. "You need assistance, and that's what I do. I protect, assist and aid."
